Association leaders visit Capitol Hill

BIA leadership and staff were in Washington, D.C., with the North Dakota Association of Builders for the National Association of Home Builders Spring Leadership Meetings/Legislative Conference earlier this month. The group is pictured above.

They met with U.S. Sen. John Hoeven and staff from U.S. Sen. Kevin Cramer and U.S. Rep. Kelly Armstrong's offices. Amongst the items discussed were establishing a Canadian softwood lumber agreement; a detrimental ruling involving energy codes and financing through HUD and USDA; and increasing funding and support for the residential construction workforce - including funding for the Job Corps program.

Over 900 NAHB members went to Capitol Hill, advocating for sound regulations and pro-housing policies.

Herdina Construction Trades Camp celebrates 24 graduates

Earlier this month, 24 students graduated from the Herdina Construction Trades Camp after learning straight from the pros. More than 50 volunteers assisted with this year's camp! Click here for a list of supporters.

Students learned about safety practices, print reading and drafting, building inspections, the science of concrete, masonry, electrical, insulation, windows, tile/waterproofing, plumbing and HVAC, plus more. They completed the majority of a bathroom facility for Farm in the Dell of the Red River Valley and built produce stands for the Farm.

Your BIA-RRV and Home Builders Care of F-M Foundation are major sponsors of this event which is hosted by M State. Thank you to all the sponsors, volunteers and other supporters who make the camp possible!

Boys & Girls Club visits Herdina Camp

Teens from Boys & Girls Clubs of the Red River Valley visited the building site that the Herdina Construction Trades Camp class of 2024 worked on for Farm in the Dell of the Red River Valley!

The goal was to provide teens from the BGC Teen Center an opportunity to explore a snippet of the trades and careers in construction. It was all made possible thanks to a partnership between the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and grant funds from the National Association of Home Builders.

See the news item below for our next opportunity to engage with the Boys & Girls Club July 11!
