Home Builders Care Foundation of Fargo-Moorhead and the the Building Industry Association of the Red River Valley partnered with the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Red River Valley to take the kids from The CLUB Teen Center on a tour of unfinished homes at Heritage Homes The Ranch at the Wilds, an active adult community located in West Fargo.

The guided tour included the viewing of four homes at various stages of construction from basic framework to a finished home. The tour discussed the numerous rewarding & high demand careers available in the home building industry, ranging from carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and many other specialty trades. Representatives from Heritage Homes, Stone Ridge Builders, and the Kilbourne Group discussed with the CLUB Teens how these fulfilling careers can be completed through degrees in less time and cost than a four-year degree.
They also mentioned a construction-trades based opportunity available to the teens ages 15 and up; The Herdina Construction Trades Camp is a two-week program for high school students held each June at M State. Students get hands-on experience and classroom instruction in a variety of specialty occupations within the residential and commercial construction industry. The cost is $200 with scholarships available upon request. Upon successful completion of the camp, students earn high school credit and/or M State will transcript three college credits.

This ongoing partnership between the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Red River Valley and the BIA-RRV is made possible by a grant from the National Association of Home Builders that encourages pathways to introduce more youth to a future career in construction.
